The Enormous Activities Fair and the first weeks of fall

UCLA's biggest club fair happens in week 0, the same week as Greek recruitment and RecFest. How to work the fair, and the deadlines that follow it in weeks 1 and 2.

Updated

The Enormous Activities Fair, usually called EAF, is UCLA's largest club fair. It is hosted by two USAC commissions, the Campus Events Commission and the Cultural Affairs Commission, and it is part of True Bruin Welcome, the opening week of fall quarter that UCLA calls week 0. In 2026, classes began on that week's Thursday. UCLA's First Year Experience page puts the fair at over 500 student organizations and departments.

In fall 2026 it ran Tuesday, September 22, from 11 am to 2 pm on Royce Quad and Wilson Plaza. The place and day move from year to year. In 2025 it was on a Monday, and the Daily Bruin found booths spread across Dickson Plaza and Wilson Plaza. Check the First Year Experience page and the campus events calendar in September for the current year.

Who is there, and who is not

Over 500 organizations and departments is a lot, but this directory lists 1,863 groups, so many clubs you could join are not at the fair. Some of the ones that are use it as the first step of a fast process. Brain Wave, a neuroscience organization for pre-med undergraduates, recruits once a year: in 2026 it held info sessions and a table at the fair, interviews in week 1 and acceptances in week 2. A club you meet at the fair can be making decisions two weeks later.

If a club you want was not there, it may still be recruiting. Look it up here or on its Instagram rather than waiting for next year's fair.

Before you go

The fair lasts three hours. The Daily Bruin's 2025 coverage quoted students who found the crowds hard to get through and the plazas hot, and that year no signs sorted the tables by category. A short list helps. Search the directory for the clubs you want to find and save them, so you know which tables to look for. UCLA's First Year Experience page also suggests taking a flyer and following a club on social media when you would rather read about it later, and taking water breaks.

At a table

If a table has a QR code for its sign-up form, fill the form in on your phone while you are standing there. A photo of a code you never open does not put you on the list. Then ask the questions that decide what happens next.

  1. Is there an application, and when is it due? Selective clubs move fast. In fall 2026, 180 Degrees Consulting wanted applications by October 5, and Bruin Alpha Investment held its info session September 30 and closed applications October 6.
  2. When and where is the first general meeting? Open clubs usually answer with a date. Japanese Student Association held its first general meeting October 1, with a membership form for 2026–27. Science Policy Group has no application and holds general meetings early each quarter.
  3. Is this form for membership or for updates? They are not always the same. Active Minds is open to all students, but its fall 2026 general member application closed October 11.
  4. Do you recruit again later? Bruin Microfinance recruits every fall and winter, so missing its October deadline costs one quarter, not a year.

Our guide to selective clubs covers the application process in detail.

The rest of week 0

True Bruin Welcome is part of UCLA's First Year Experience program, and ASUCLA says all of its events are free for students. The fall 2026 calendar for week 0 included Bruin Bash on Monday night, academic open houses on Wednesday, the Champed Up athletics welcome in Wilson Plaza the same afternoon, Transferpalooza for transfer students on Thursday in Pauley Pavilion, and UCLA Volunteer Day at community sites around Los Angeles on Saturday.

Bruin Day is something else: a spring event for newly admitted students, held in April in 2025. It is not part of the fall welcome.

Greek recruitment overlaps the fair

UCLA Fraternity & Sorority Life says Panhellenic formal recruitment and the Interfraternity Council's recruitment week both take place during True Bruin Welcome, and both typically require registration and a fee. The Asian Greek Council's rush week falls in the same week, with no registration or cost. The Latinx Greek Council and the National Pan-Hellenic Council hold informationals in fall and usually invite new members in winter or spring. If you are interested in a Panhellenic or IFC chapter, do not wait for the fair to learn about it. Recruitment runs the same week, and registration comes first. Greek life at UCLA has each council's fall 2026 dates.

Club sports and RecFest

RecFest, on Friday, September 25, 2026, ran from 5 to 8 pm on the IM Field and included Club Sports meet-and-greets. UCLA Recreation says some club teams hold formal tryouts and others do not, and that club sports usually ask for more commitment than intramurals, which have no tryouts.

11 of the 60 club teams here mention tryouts in their join notes. Men's soccer takes players by tryout through its 2026 tryout form. Men's rowing takes walk-on rowers, and Quadball started fall practices on Sunday, September 27, and welcomes new players all year. The club sports guide sorts the rest.

After the fair

Weeks 1 and 2 are when the forms you filled in turn into meetings, info sessions and deadlines. Put each date in your calendar as soon as it arrives. The joining guide explains the ways clubs take members, and if the deadlines get past you, joining after the first weeks lists the clubs that keep taking people.
