What we collect when you browse

We run our own analytics on our own server. No ad networks, no third-party trackers, and nothing is sold. For every page you open we record:

• The page, the time, and the page you came from (the referrer), including any utm_ campaign tags in the link.
• Your IP address and the approximate location our network provider (Cloudflare) derives from it: country, region, city, postal code and time zone.
• Your browser, operating system and device type, from the user-agent string.
• Screen and window size, pixel density, language, time zone, light or dark mode preference, connection type, page load time, how long the page was visible, and how far you scrolled.
• What you do on the site: searches and filters, clubs you open, links you click to contact a club (Instagram, email, Discord, website), and saves, likes and shares.

Two first-party cookies tie this together: bc_v identifies your browser (kept up to 400 days) and bc_s groups a visit (expires after 30 minutes of inactivity). They are used only on this site.

If you create an account

• Your email, your name if you give it, and optionally your class and major.
• Your password, stored only as a salted Argon2id hash. We can't see it.
• Your saved clubs, likes and recently viewed clubs, and the devices you're signed in on (browser, approximate location, last active). The sign-in cookie bc_auth keeps you signed in until you sign out.
• Your earlier browsing on the same browser is linked to your account.

Like counts are shown publicly as totals. Who liked what is never shown to other users.

Why

To run the site (keeping you signed in, remembering your saves), to keep it working and secure (spotting abuse and broken pages), and to make it better: which clubs people look for, what searches find nothing, and which links actually help students join.

Your choices

• Download your data or delete your account at any time. Deleting removes your account, saves, likes and history; browsing statistics stay but are no longer linked to you.
• Clear your viewing history whenever you like.
• Blocking cookies still lets you browse and search, but saves won't stick.
• Questions or a deletion request without an account: use the feedback form.

Where it lives

Data is stored on a server in San Jose, California, behind Cloudflare, with daily backups kept for two weeks. Only the site's administrators can see analytics.
