Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was founded on January 15, 1908 at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Since its founding over a century ago, Alpha Kappa Alpha’s mission has been to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of “Service to All Mankind.
The Alpha Gamma chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was chartered in 1925 at the University of California, Los Angeles. The women of Alpha Gamma strive to perpetuate the mission of the organization through student led programs that embody the initiatives of the International President.

How to join
NPHC chapters hold membership intake at a time of their choosing: informationals in fall (NPHC informationals week Oct 5 – 9, Meet the Greeks in week 2), with invitations usually in winter or spring. Most chapters require a minimum GPA. Contact the chapter directly; council updates on @NPHCofUCLA.
