About

The UCLA Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Club (UCLA BJJ) is open to all experience levels. Practices are free and open for the first Week of every quarter, and you can find more information via our Instagram.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art and combat sport based on ground fighting and submission holds. BJJ focuses on the skill of taking an opponent to the ground, controlling one's opponent, gaining a dominant position, and using a number of techniques to force them into submission via joint locks or chokeholds. Here at UCLA, we train No-gi and have a Gi encourage day on Tuesdays.

How to join

Tryouts or open practices, mostly in the first weeks of fall. Email the team or check its Instagram for dates; general questions go to the Club Sports clubhouse (clubhouse@recreation.ucla.edu).

This is the typical process for this kind of club. Their Instagram or email will have the specifics.
